Just finished Port of Arrival! It was great, not a sequel to Port of Departure, but a continuation of the story. And I must say that I hope this story continues! I want to know what happens next--in Taylor's life, her careers (onboard ship as well as in Los Angeles. And, especially in regards to Rebecca in the Home Office. Hopefully, I will not have to wait very long! This book picks up the events in Wendy Taylor Brian's life a bit after _Port_of_Departure_.If (especially if) _Depature_ left you yearning to experience so much more of the wonderful protagonist's life story, then _Port_of_Arrival_ is an absolute MUST READ..This work is clearly transcendent, and even if you are not a fan of TG literature, you may well find the pair of novels an extremely rewarding read. absolutely brilliant in their detail, their well-plotted narratives, and their emotional complexity. Handling difficult topics with grace, optimism, and brilliant writing is Karin's metier, and this book is no exception.As the novel opens, Wendy is post-op and consigned to the L.A. office of her cruise line. She's assigned a job that perhaps management thought would be a sinecure, a "make work" job, but Wendy immediately goes to work to improve the re-design/re-fit of her home ship, and then on an exhausting inspection tour of ships cruising itineraries round the world, during which she finds herself in the midst of multiple crises but to say more would spoil the joy of discovering what happens in her life after the previous novel. I will only say that you really should simply grab this one and devour it as I did. At the very least, it's a wonderful novel with exciting ports of call, at most, it is a love song written to those of us who are differentIf you are gender dysphoric, you'll especially appreciate the sensitive way in which the heroine's life is portrayed, and share (as I did) all the mental processing one goes through in a life experience such as hers -- it's highly representative of what goes through the mind post-transition.I loved spending the time with Wendy Taylor Brian and hated to see her story end -- I'm really hoping for a book 3 in this series.Beautifully written and plotted Karin!
